BBC blogging- Correspondents, opinion and fact

December 26, 2008

There was a very interesting comment piece in the Daily Mail today by Stephen Glover entitled ‘Pontificating Mr Peston, self-indulgent bloggers, and why the BBC should stop putting opinion before facts’.

The piece brings up some interesting questions for our blog, on impartiality in the BBC, the role of BBC correspondents such as Robert Peston and whether BBC reporters should really be offering opinions in blogs which may influence so many people.

These are points that I would like to explore further in my next blog posts. But what do other people think? Is the BBC really as impartial as it makes out? Do correspondents have too much influence over the public? I’d like to hear your thoughts,

Ali

Brilliant, as soon as I get this other work out the way I can sit down and get more to grips with it Ali. Nice find, I for one think they are all treading a thin line in their professions to be honest, its all well having a private blog but to have one directly linked to your supposedly impartial employer is a tad dangerous.
